ITINERARY

30th August – 4th September 2026

Join us for a fun and informative Rewilding Field Trip to the Netherlands with rewilding, beaver specialist and author Derek Gow. Places are limited so book now to ensure your place!

Day 1 – Travel

  • Collection from Schiphol Airport – 12 noon
  • Travel to Hotel Buunderkamp Where you will stay for the duration of the trip on a B&B basis, pack
  • In evening presentation from Marc Wilbers outlining the weeks event welcome drink included.

Day 2 – Millingwaard

  • This was the first rewilding project in the Netherlands 35 years ago. You will be guided by the godfather of Rewilding Frans Vera a forester of Statsbosbeheer.
  • You will see a pioneering example of rewilding and nature restoration. This once farmland has now been transformed into a dynamic floodplain and demonstrates how allowing nature to take its course can result in a thriving, self-sustaining habitat that inspires conservation worldwide.
  • In the afternoon we visit the food forest with owner Wouter v Ek
  • We end the day in the vineyard de Plak in Groesbeek

Day 3 – Planken Wambuis

  • In the morning we join Marc Wilbers and Theo Greuntjens forester to learn all about Wolves in the Netherlands (early start).
  • In the afternoon we visit Wisent project at Kootwijk on the Veluwe.

Day 4 – Oostvaardenplassen

  • This is a vast nature reserve established in the 1980’s Providing sanctuary for wild birds and a home for Konic ponies, Heck Cattle, and Red Deer. Your guides will be the head ranger Hans Erik Kuypers and Marc Wilbers taking you on an exclusive tour around the nature reserve.
  • In the afternoon we go to Binneseveldes Hooilanden with Willem Weerd ornithologist. Please note that we will be riding bicycles.

Day 5 – Zwillbrockenvenn

  • Located close to the boarder with Germany, it is home to Europe’s northernmost colony of flamingoes plus a large colony of black backed gulls. Marc Wilbers and an ornithologist from NABU will be your guides.
  • In the afternoon we go to Korenburgerveen (peat bog) with cranes guide Hent te Riet.

Day 6 – Travel

  • Return to Schiphol for flights home.

All points are open to changes depending on needs of participants, or better alternatives.

£1 095 + VAT

Please note the following:

  1. A non-refundable deposit of £100 needs to be paid to secure your booking with the balance due 6 weeks before the trip.
  2. You will need to arrange and pay for your own flights, travel insurance, evening meals and drinks.
  3. Price includes all airport transfers and the mini-bus/coach transporting us between locations.
  4. Price includes accommodation and breakfast while on trip.
  5. unches are included each day. Evening meals are available to purchase in the hotel restaurant.
